Coat Of Arms

Morcote’s coat of arms, is two-tone green and red representing hope and courage. It has, in the lower green part, a sow with numerous little ones, as a symbol of abundance and fertility, which owes its origins to the antoniani friars of Vienne, settled in Morcote in the middle ages and which had it as their emblem.

In the upper red part, a shepherdess sitting on a pile of sheaves of wheat on a meadow, symbolizes the conquered freedom of the people of Morcote, against the podestà and castellan.
